SOUWA was born from a deep appreciation for the quiet beauty of Japanese tea and the enduring heritage of Uji, Kyoto — a town long celebrated for its tea culture.
We work together with a tea farm in Uji, where generations of craftsmanship have been carefully preserved. Through this partnership, we hope to share tea that is truly good, thoughtfully selected, and rich in quality.
At SOUWA, we believe tea is more than a drink. It is a small ritual — a calm moment that brings comfort, beauty, and harmony into everyday life.
Our name, SOUWA (奏和), reflects this spirit. “Sou” (奏) carries the meaning of bringing forth, delivering, or playing in harmony, while “Wa” (和) represents harmony, Japanese sensibility, and peaceful balance. Together, SOUWA expresses our wish to deliver harmony through every cup.
From the tea fields, thoughtfully selected with care.
The journey of selecting matcha for SOUWA begins at the farm, with cultivation and harvesting, and continues through each stage of production. We personally taste and record the unique character of each matcha, considering every detail — the tea leaves, color, aroma, texture, flavor, balance, and lingering finish.
Through this process, we have come to understand that good matcha offers more than a delicious taste. Its beauty lies in the harmony of small details, coming together like a work of art in a single cup.
With this understanding, we select each matcha to become part of SOUWA, sharing an experience we hope you will enjoy.
You don’t have to travel all the way to Uji, Kyoto to experience authentic Japanese tea from the farm. Through SOUWA, you can enjoy it at home, with thoughtfully selected matcha that brings our care into every cup.
